When purchasing a Causes Gift Card at your local Safeway or Vons store, the buyer receives a special tax receipt noting that the sale benefits a nonprofit organization and 100% of the purchase is tax-deductible. If you received the Causes Gift Card as a gift and allocate the value of the card to the charity of your choice, your donation is not tax-deductible (the purchaser of the card received the tax-deduction).
